We just finished up a great Wilderness First Aid course with 7 out of 9 students renewing their certifications with Point Positive CPR! We love having students return, because it means we're doing something right!
All of our WFA courses feature plenty of practice using hands-on skills. It is important for students to be able to practice the skills they are learning in a safe and controlled environment. Hands-on scenarios are a great way to learn new skills and knowledge. They can help you to understand the material better, develop problem-solving skills, build confidence, and have fun! In our courses, students have time to practice skills as they learn them in the classroom, and also have the opportunity to put their skills and knowledge together in realistic hands-on scenarios.
In addition to learning the skills, participants also learn how to assess a patient's condition and make decisions about the best course of treatment. This is an important part of Wilderness First Aid, as it is often necessary to make decisions without the benefit of medical resources.
Here's some of our favorite moments from the course.
Rolling and moving patients
Patient Assessment
Head, Neck, and Spinal Injuries
Splinting
Controlling bleeding and managing shock
Outdoor Classroom
Burn management and Chest injuries
Medical Emergencies
